Looking forward at my plans for a predator tank I was wondering if there were any groupers that would stay small and my clownfish would be safe around. Any information will be appreciated!

I don't think there are any that would be completely safe. There are many other predators that would also likely eat the clownfish, so I think it would be best to just leave the clownfish out. The only thing that may help would be the addition of a large anemone to provide protection to the clownfish, but I wouldn't count on it.

not sure about carpets but my large adorned wrasse will steal food from my BTA without thinking about it and lighting fast, so when i feed my anemone I have to do it when the wrasse is asleep. I think a large grouper would do the same just snatch the clownfish.

Maybe a v-tail but as stated above only with a big anemone and big clown

I have a 10 inch carpet anemone in the tank and the clowns are about 3 inches. Pretty big for clowns.

I'm sure he is thinking of members from the Serranidae subfamily Epinephelinae, the real Groupers, but many of those will get too large for any home tank.
There are many smaller fish like the Serranus species that belong to the Serranidae that have the look of a grouper but are not as predatory.

I agree, but was commenting on the juvi males, which are great looking. Sadly, many of the fish I love are nicer looking as babies/juvis, than adults, but I do appreciate the final product!

Oh man, that is a cool looking one. A lot more boring as an adult but still looks nice I think. So many cool big predatory fish out there, I'm almost tempted to make a big FOWLR tank for some.
This one has been on DD for a while and looks pretty awesome, but I'm betting it would munch the clowns pretty readily.
