are there monti CAPS as colorful as the popular encrusting kind? (superman et. al.)

everytime i see a really cool monti it is always the encrusting kind.

i'm wondering if there are any monti caps that have just as vibrant of contrast as superman, supergirl, etc, etc.

i've seen lots of contrasting body/rim combos, but never something as awesome looking. its always brown/green body, purple rim, heh.

anybody know where i can find stuff like i'm talking about? would be sweet to find a 3-color cap (body/rim/polyps) in a color other than brown! :D

thanks!

You are right...I haven't seen any tricolor caps but some of the montipora digita are pretty colorful.. I've seen white with yellow polyps, green with red/pink polyps, blue on purple.

I have a green w/blue polyps growing now. Issue is the size of the polyps - very small and hard to see against the green of the tissue. My friend has a purple/gray w/blue polyps but the small polyps issue is still there. You really have to be looking for the polyps to see them.

Atlantis had a few interesting ones. The Strawberry Cap (pink polyps) was really nice.

It's hard for me to keep the green in this coral, but when it's going good it rivals my superman.

It's gotten a bit brighter over the past weeks, and the green is coming in more, but nowhere near what it should look it. Suposedly this is the leng sy, but I have my doubts.

I have this same cap... white polyps and purple rim. its not a leng sy but looks just as good to me Where did you get yours from?? Mine came from a member here on RC

I have a purple rim green cap with white polyps as well. I have it high in the tank and the WHOLE CAP is pure white except for the rim which is a nice purple. I broke off a small chunk the other day and put it on a rock on my sand bed. Im going to see if I can get some green out of it growing nice and low.....I just have never been able to get the green out :(.

My LFS just got a beautiful cap. The base color is brown (ugly, but I think it will/can change) but the polyps are NEON green. Very flourescent.

the brown with green stays brown, i have it, it will stay tan, sometimes they have a slight lavender tone, but generally... brown. Thats a cool coral, its similar to the blue polyped cap in a sense because ot the polyp contrast, it grows VERY slow and and I believe its not a cap but a montipora monasteriata?

Gotta get another frag from my source, the nudis got this one a year ago :(

Purple with light green polyps, poor pic ... but definitely plating.
