Are these rare clowns?

Yes, they are very rare. They are not a mated pair, they are sub-adults.

Does anybody know why all of a sudden there is an influx of these clowns?

Marina they all came from the same importer. It's funny he called me and had no clue exactly how rare they were. That was about one month ago. Two groups of them have landed.

According to him the source has gone dry at this point. Funny they are all sub adults eh? Every one that came in were the same age/size. CB?

nah, no CB.

Does not shlecht have one adult?

I do hope that the collector (there are 3 stations in maur, I believe) only gets sub-adults. Otherwise, gasters will be extinct very soon. Horrible long-term survival rate in captivity, even for well-adjusted guys and gals. They are up there with latz :(, if not higher.

id rather them take sub adults taking 20 year old females out of the reef could really be destructive.

eek.

Nope, all roughly same size. One maybe hovering at 2.5" if his pictures are accurate.

It's just odd two different shipments all same relative size. Maybe not CB but odd nonetheless. CB Chrysopterus have arrived from the Aussies if we are to believe the billing.

Do they suffer the same weird symptoms as Latz Marina? Blindness etc.

They come down with something endemic, never saw these maladies in other clowns.

Kinda depends on how cute they are...

Wait we are talking about clownfish?

nevermind

I know they do not tolerate high temps for long periods. The few I have had died in summer after several weeks of elevated temps (84-85), while other clown species tolerated it just fine. I did have one for over 4 years (until temp issue), so they are possible to keep.

You still have yours, Marina?
