Are Yellow Tangs naturally shy?

Are YT's really this shy? He's not optimizing the full 6-ft long tank for swimming.. he'd rather swim slowly in between and behind LR's and he wouldn't come out if I'm staring at the tank.

Another thing that I noticed is that he just likes to graze for food... is he really getting enough food by doing this? I tried to give him dried brown algae (seaweed select - per LFS' recommendation) and he wouldn't touch it. How can I feed him to begin with if he won't even come out? Also, please suggest a good food for him? Thanks!

BTW, the 125G that has been running for almost a year now and for the longest time it only had a Tomato clown and a Neon Velvet Damsel (they don't mess with the tang at all)

thanks

He'll learn to eat the algae from the clip after a few days, sometimes it takes a while. Mine was scared of the clip for the first couple days lol.

I think they're often shy at first ... mine is always so full of drama ... they spaz out, zoom around, it's quite funny.

The tang should eat most any food. Give him time, he'll get adjusted soon enough :)
