ARGH!!!! Everytime I get a new frag or move one.

My hippo tang picks it up, plug and all and carries it to the sand. Even if I wedge it in there she will pick at it till she gets it out and carries it over the rock work to drop it in the sand. She will also do it if I move an existing frag to a new spot. These are all SPS btw.

She will do this for a couple days then quit. I've also caught her picking on my fighting conch. She will pick it up by the fat end and swim to the top of the tank and let it go. She used to do it alot, I would find the conch on really high places in my tank, almost with a  look, lol. Lately that has stopped for the most part.

The part I hate was I just got a frag of Orange digi from SITC today and got lucky and the plug slipped into a really cool spot nice and tight and looked really good where it was.

Half hour later as I am getting it out of the sand with tongs (110 tall) the frag slips out of the tongs grasp and falls onto another SPS in my tank and breaks into three pieces :mad2:

If it wasn't annoying, it would be funny. She is like a cat.

Is this all in the same general area?
Just thinking that maybe it is in her little territory where she sleeps or hangs out.
Either that or she is just very tidy and is doing a little spring cleaning for you.
I would love to see a picture of her carrying the conch. Sounds like a cool video for Funniest Home videos.
Good luck!

Yeah, she will only do it to frags inside the tank!

I've tried epoxy but don't like how it sends my skimmer crazy for a couple days. It also burns some corals pretty bad.

I just tried something today that I read about a couple months ago and it worked. Super glue gell will cure under water. I put a few drops on the bottom of the frag, held it to the rock and it stuck!

Next time I put a new frag in my tank, maybe I will hide around the corner with camera in hand to see if I can catch her.

If I am around she won't do it. If I walk in on her in the midst of the act she will drop whatever she has and stop doing it till I leave again.

maybe if you buy a small goldfish bowl and drill for the fins she could tidy the house up for you and all you have to do is feed he more nori. lol sorry just had to be a wise a--. try to get a pick. it would be a good avatar

I should make them earn their keep.

I will try and get a picture next time I put a new frag in.
