Armor of God now and then plus some new zoos...

i like those also. i honestly cant tell the difference b/w those and armagedons. i thought the armagedons were the metallic red ones w/ the greenish skirt and greenish mouth. but those look exactly like what are being called armagedons in a display tank at a LFS i know of. and i've seen people on RC and other sites call them both names...

could they be the exact same zoa? just different under different lighting?

either way, i like that version w/ the greenish skirt and mouth beter than the others. very nice looking!!

btw, if the ones with the greenish skirt and mouth arent armagedons, i will be happier b/c maybe i can get the price lowered if they arent "true armagedons" ;)

twon8, what do you think those at that LFS are? i'm sure they had a greenish skirt and mouth.

Check out this info from zoaid that shows a picture of them side by side. I think it shows the difference between the two morphs

ahh, i see (barely with my pathetic excuse for a monitor  )...but still, that is only what zoaid says. with no offense to zoaid, i've seen many other morphs called armagedons and armor of god than the pictures up there. i guess its just another instance of wanna be tubs blues and wanna be safecrackers, and people trying to make $$ of something supposedly rare.

but thanks for the link, at least i know how to tell those two morphs apart now and will know when someone is trying to pull my leg ;)

'armor of god' in the center and 'armageddon's' (direct from jeremy[whodah], himself) on the lower left.

thats a good pic! thanks! and thanks to jeremy.

maybe its just my monitor, but dont the other armor of god pics show a slightly greenish skirt? in that picture the skirts in the center ones look dark brown. could just be the lighting and/or flash. its so hard to tell with this stuff hehe

only reason i question this stuff, is b/c i saw a frag of about 10poyps in a LFS that was being sold for $120. a lady who worked their said it was called armageddons (before i really knew what one was). they were under VHO actinics, so i never really thought much of them. they were still there two months later, but now under really good halides and they definitely had a greenish skirt and greenish mouth, like Jabol posted, and looked amazing! the second time i visited the store i was looking at something else, and the store owner just mentioned the ones he used to be selling that were now in his show tank (i guess cuz no one bought them due to the price), and he said they were "people eaters". so it doesnt really sound like they know what they are talking about, or they are just going for the $.

regardless, i think what you guys are calling "armor of gods", is the ones that were in the store, and look much cooler than the armageddons. i just dont like being told something with a fancy name to justify the asking price.

in your guys opinions, which are going for the higher prices? and why? just curious.

i tend to agree, the ones we saw are closer to armor of god, and I think they look better than armegeddon's

Which store was this? I live in MD and have been meaning to take a day trip out to some of the good VA and DC stores. Any place that would carry zoas/palys in colors other than brown would be pretty fantastic for me as MD stores tend to disappoint royally in that respect. I'd love to go to some of these stores with local reefers too if you guys would be up to it!

Oh and to answer your question about pricing, I've seen armageddon (I and II) go for more than the armor of God despite the fact that I know more people with armageddon than armor of God. Having never seen armor of god in person myself it's hard to comment but I can say that armageddon is probably the most fantastic morph I've ever seen in person and never looks as good in photo's but thats just my opinion.

there are quite a few good stores with good zoanthids in richmond and the surrounding areas. pm me if you decide to head this way. also if you would be up for a zoa trade lmk.

and i would say whoever the lfs got these from refers to any red ppe-type as armageddon's; i cant see them being as into the different names as most involved in discussion here.

theres one really really REALLY good store in Richmond, VA, and two other decent stores. the frag twon and i saw was at one of the "decent" stores that doesn't really carry that many zoas, but twon and i have found a couple gems there hiding in the rough ;)

the really REALLY good store in Richmond is worth the several hour drive to check out. he's the top deltec dealer in the US apparently, and has a custom made deltec tank (550g) that was imported from europe. i've read lots of people from around the east coast talk on the deltec forum about driving to the store just to check it out. pretty neat.

i think there is, or used to be a good one in Va. beach. I've heard theres alot of good stores in the DC metro area, but i cringe at the thought of driving up there just to find some stores after my experiences going to the baltimore aquarium and museums in the DC area. i'd like to avoid northern VA and DC metro traffic at all costs, reminds me of los angeles county traffic, except take the same traffic from those 6-8 lanes and condense them into 4 lanes

sorry to get off topic... i'm sure the original poster has had it with me :D

i have to use firefox on a MAC (blehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!) at my office, zoaid seems to open up normally. although i cant stand macs for numerous reasons, esspecially b/c theres no right and left mouse buttons

but i think i've had that problem with pictures not loading fully when they come up in a pop-up window, i just keep clicking and banging the mouse on the desk and it works eventually ;)
