Arrow and Sally Lightfoot Crabs

Does anyone have any experience with either of these crabs in a reef tank? I'd like to get one of each to go in a 90g and I don't want to have any problems.

I wouldn't do the sally light foots, they'll get very agressive as they get larger and are very opportunistic.

i personally like the sally light foots myself but when they get big they get to be a bit mean. i have also had arrow crabs and can personally say they will eat your snails for sure.

so if your looking for no possible problems i would say it is a safe bet to rule out both of the crabsyou have mentioned. if you want a reef safe crab i would defilently go for anemone crabs or porcelin crabs. they are filter feeders and not agressive.

Ive had sally light foots since day 1... they are one of the best cleaners IME. I have never had any show aggression. I have 1 sally light foot in my 120 right now and 1 snail. I plan on adding 3 more sally's.

How long ago was "day one?"

I agree that the porcelains are your best bet. They aren't going to fight w/ a clown over an anemone like an anemone crab (and anemone crabs will make a bee-line for any anemone, which ****es off resident clowns!) I haven't had problems w/ small emerald crabs, but they can get a bit grumpy when they grow, as well.

The sally lightfoot is known to change its diet as it grows, so do be careful.

I have a pretty large Ruby Crab which is just a red color morph of the Emerald Crab. Its out all the time and hasn't bothered the snails or my soft and lps corals.

When small they stays as herbivore and detrivore, but as they get larger, meaner more aggressive, they become more inclined to go after meat
