I was wondering on people opinions on adding a Arrow crab in my 37 Gallon. I have a Banded Coral Shrimp and a Peppermint shrimp in there and I read that the Arrow crabs can be aggressive toward them. I also have some fish, brittle star, snails, crabs, mushrooms, zoos, leather, xenia, and sun coral. Thanks for the advice.

I decided to buy an arrow crab after a dive in mexico. It will eat anything it can get a claw on. your hermits and snails will be at risk. I would avoid buying this crab.

i have a arrrow crab, and it won't nip at anything as long as its getting enough food. my seems to love zooplankton

Arrow crabs aren't interested in eating hermit crabs or snails, they can't eat them becase they are in a shell. But they will make attempts at eating peppermint shrimp, anemone and sexy shrimp and any other shrimp smaller than a peppermint.

They also try to eat small fish too, they can catch anything smaller than 2 inches. They also pick at corals and especially feather dusters and almost any kind of filter feeder. It says they are reef safe, but when they get big, they can be dangerous to corals and fish and shrimp. And I had a xenia, the arrow crab chopped off a whole stalk.

Fish4lyfe says that they won't nip at anything if they are well fed, but I fed mine atleast 3-5 times a day, adn it was always hungry, and it grew rapidly.

Arrow crabs are also very territorial with Coral Banded Shrimp, they will fight alot, especially in that sized tank.

You might be safe if you get a small one, but they grow quickly.

well goooollleeeeeee
I HAD an arrowhead crab along with the snails and pepperment shrimp and other inverts as well as fish, and I don't care WHAT the *experts* say----he didn't mess with ANYone in my tank , but the pepperment shrimp(had 9 of them) sure made a meal of him!!!!I watched it , and so did my hubby! so I know it for fact! I got rid of the shrimp and just bought another arrowhead crab.

And they say the pepperment shrimp only eats DEAD things??!!
Also, not only do I have n arrow head crab, but I have a porcelin crab /sally light foot, and emarald crab and all they do is eat algae.

oh i failed to mention i also have a coral banded shrimp and they haven't even tried to mess with him--or anything else either.I guess it's trial and error and how bad you want it .

today i got rid of my arrowhead because it was killing my beautiful featherduster, its a cool looking crab dont get me wrong but isn't really reefsafe..
