ARS Members Tanks

I think that's green hair algae, most people see it as a problem, but it seems like it would convert nitrate quick.

Oh yeah I agree it does look like GSP, would be nice to have that all over Kung, seems like it's growing in the right direction.

I have a little of both, hair algea and gsp. The gsp really has taken off recently. I'd say another few months and it will cover the back glass, so that's nice. Looking over the top of the screen at the actual tank, I'm amazed that the picture is a week old and the GSP has probably spread another two inches up the glass. That stuff grows like crazy.

As for the algae, that's why I wanted some chaeto. My fuge has been off-line for a few months, and I'm starting to get algae real bad. Sooooooo, return to the fuge, get my lights back online and get some chaeto to try to suck up some nutrients. Next water change I'm going to scrape the back glass, and hopefully that goes a long way towards eliminating that scourge.

The tank is drilled but over flow boxes don't go all the way down. It was a non reef ready that Radone DIYed into reef ready and then sold to me.

Oh ok, that's cool it's really unique looking I like that. I'm surprised that sailfin doesn't destroy that hair algae.

He really does keep it cut VERY short. You couldn't get ahold of it, it's just turf more than hair. I'm thinking I want another tang to help him out. That sailfin, I'll try to get a better picture, I think is a hybrid. He was sold to me as a regular, pacific sailfin, but he's got some red-sea coloration, but not all of it. He's a real cool fish. Real laid back for a sailfin.

kole tangs are good for the short stuff. Powder blues are awesome algae eaters, but I know that most reef tanks can't have them because ich is present in most all reef tanks.

Kole is what I had in mind, and I would have said so in the last post but I simply forgot the name. I also like an orange shoulder, but the tank is too small. I was also looking at a small koran angel. I don't know how much algae he'll eat (some, I'd guess), but I just think they are really cool.

yeah, they will destroy cyano....I'm not sure about the small stuff though. Kole or tomini would be best.
