ARS Unofficial Voting By-Laws

Many times the CORA by-laws were used as an example of how to run our club. Although they are not official, there are a few items from those by-laws that I'd like to call everyone's attention too.

5.02 Notification: Notification of general meetings shall be posted on the website, club forum and sent through the current email list. Notification of meetings will be sent out no later than 14 days prior to the meeting.

This was adhered too and the meeting had a 90%+ attendance from all active ARS posters. Not one person commented that the meeting was not well received and didn't go great. There was a lot of good discussion as to which direction our club should go.

6.04 Eligibility: Only members in good standing who have attended at least 4 (four) meetings in the current calendar year are eligible for office. Members with a financial or commercial interest in the hobby are not eligible to hold office, but may reside on the Board of Directors with a 2/3 voting members approval.

Take this how you want, but how I read it, we haven't been a club, that actively meets, long enough for any major direction changing votes to take place online or otherwise.
This is also to stop the online posers from voting on any ARS issues. If you don't attend the meetings, you may as well be from Tahiti.
This also means that any person that intends to sell frags or may have any financial gain from our club activities forfeit their right to hold office.

7.03 Quorum: A quorum of at least one half (½) of the Board of Directors must be in attendance in order to conduct business. A majority vote of those present shall be required in order for the Board to vote on any business.

In attendance means in attendance! As long as we have a public platform to speak our mind or until elected officers are in place that choose otherwise, no online voting in any other forum or group mailing shall be valid for ARS.
As per the private core-group email list that consist of: AlterpersOna, Baldwin, carb850, cdbias2, corralreefer, dbyoho, jmccown, Kung, Ltpiper, rnhrtfan, and spinnerbait. Only 5 people responded with a vote. Four of the votes fell against what the consensus was from the official ARS meeting only 5 days previous.
Four people will never decide the direction of ARS and this type of reverse voting will never represent the ARS group consensus.
The core group mailing list was created for discussion purposes only. It was not originally meant to hold official elections or vote on core issues of ARS.

My private core group attempts at a filibuster to stop the bogus vote may have seemed like it failed but now this posting will bring it too the masses attention.
Filibuster: Political delaying tactic: a tactic used to delay or prevent the passage of legislation, e.g. a long irrelevant speech.

Any worthy president should take up for your voting rights, not try to push his agenda forward with a private vote.

The private vote that took place was an effort to send ARS into a competing event against our local reef club even though the official consensus from "œthe only official ARS meeting" was against that idea, unofficially. This vote was put forward and tallied within 12 hours. This is exactly the tactics that we have all spoken out against and will never be tolerated in ARS.

After official voting, this may be the direction that ARS ends up going but as of now we have no official direction or purpose other than to hold meetings and help other SW hobbyist.
Any other decision, direction or vote poll that is stated as the ARS Mission Statement or the opinion of ARS is untrue and should be treated as such.
Speak up and stop the posers!

The people that are throwing votes up before you have no official right to do so. Even if they have numerous backers.
