At 24" deep you should be able to run t5's on that too.

i am contemplating 80 watters, but for now I have a 250 pendant phoenix and 400 watt for 40 bucks. I won't be able to set it up for less than 40 bucks. I do run both t-5 and mh and growth from the metal halide far surpasses t-5s. Now that i think about the tank I think it is more like 16 inches.

yup 16 inches which comes to 305 gallons. After modifications it will be 250 gallons.
