beauttiful fish its said to be one of the more safer large angels to TRY in a reef tank but its a hit and miss type of thing good luck keep us posted!!!

What do you mean 4.5-5" and almost adult colors? Are you still eseing juvenile colors in a 5" asfur? Post a pic!

I had one for several years in a mixed reef and it was well behaved but like the other said it is really hit and miss. Mine didn't touch my leathers, polyps, shrooms, or anemones but did eat a frag of LPS I tried. I didn't keep SPS so I dont know about that. I did keep mine very well fed in an old system with lots of natural feeding opportunities and multiple feedings and I think this is the key to successfully keeping an angel in a reef.

Sorry did not meant to type almost. It does have adult colors. I am not sure how to post pics on here.
I would love to keep macro algea growing in the tank for natural feeding but my magnificant foxface and powder blue will demolish macro within about ten minutes of putting it the tank. I do feed nori daily but the Asfur has not caught onto that. of course I have only had him a day
i am trying to get a frag tank so I can also grow some macro but funds are tight with just purchasing MH lighting and of course the angel.

Ok well he has been in my tank for a couple of days and is doing GREAT except...you guessed it he is picking at corals. well actually I have only noticed my pipe organ but I am sure there are others. I decided to mount some pc's under my sump to grow some macro. I put lots in today and that seemed to keep him happy. We will see. i am also getting a bio cube and will store any of his favorite corals int here if I need to. I am going to be patient to see if he will work out before I jump the gun....Like I did when I bought him.
