Here are some easy to follow instructions with photos for attaching your sedra pump to an ASM G1 skimmer. The instructions included with the skimmer show an elbow, which is not included with the G1. Hence, the output of the G1 connects directly to the uniseal on the side of the skimmer. Please see below for questions on this process.

The uniseal may not be attached to the side of the skimmer.

Wiggle the output on the TOP of the pump into the skimmer. Don't force it, but wiggle it back and forth until it is securely in the uniseal.

The input of the pump must be placed below water level. Otherwise, direction does not matter and it could be up and down or sideways.

Hey Jay

I don't want to hijack, but I'm going to anyway:)

Is that the correct way for the venturi to point? Long portion toward the pump?

I don't think it matters which way the venturi points as long as the hose is out of water. I didn't pay attention when taking the pictures to how the venturi points. Typically the venturi hose is on the top side of the inlet.
