ASM mini vs G1 question

ASM mini vs G1 question posted in ASM forum as well.

I intend to buy either a mini, or a G1. The question goes to the subject of sump water level. What depth is optimal for each? Obviously, I have a very tight window to work in with this skimmer. Both in terms of sump footprint, as well as operating depth of water in the compartment holding the skimmer. My overall height in the cabinet is limited as well.
Any input is highly valued!! Thanks guys.

I would go for the G1. You also have better control of the skimmer by moving the output tube up or down to control the water level in the skimmer itself. The Mini-G I do not believe has one. JMO! :D

I have the mini G in my 65g w/20g sump. It also has the sliding output tube. I have mine in about 9" - 10". It's all about what you can afford and fit! I think the G-1 is about $100 more than the mini, but it's that much better too, I'm sure. I'm happy with the performance of the mini - G however.
