I've never touched the pump/venturi, only the skimmer body/neck/collection cup.

I'll have a look tomorrow

3rd try is the charm...

Will the g3 fit in a 12 x 10 section in my sump if I have the gate valve mod? Whats the smallest size anyone has got one of these to fit in? I'm short on space in my sump.

It seems to me that my venturi is clogging or something. Is that the part that you rinse?

Ok I pulled mine of the front of the pump, all was fine.

Pull yours off and rinse it out in the sink.

I dont think so 12 x 12 might work

go back 2 or three pages maybe more and look at my pic. that is a modded g3 in an 11 3/4 x 11 inch area. without this cramped recirc mod it would have never fit though. but you will see I even had room for another mag in there.

Materials

What is the body of the ASM skimmer line made of? Is it acrylic (cell cast or extruded?) or is it clear PVC? What is the wall thickness?

Thanks,

Kirk

rtbm,

Mine will just be the gate valve. Hopefully I can mess with it. I don't want to take my baffles out and redo them all for 1/2 inch.

I joined the club last! My very large G3 is currently sitting in my bathtub cleaning itself. I have no idea how some of you got this monster into an area smaller than 12x13 without it sitting on the glass.

I got all excited when I opened the box from ASMSkimmer and there was a box for the Sedra 7000 pump. Free upgrade! Sadly, it was the 5000 pump in the 7000 box.

I'm hoping it quiets down when it gets into SW. It's gurgling pretty bad right now.

CeeGee, Cleaning ventri---Make sure you run some RO/DI water into tubing (every couple weeks), it will be sucked into the ventri and clean out salt blockages

Just wondering here...if it were not a female woman, what kind would it be?

I guess it could be a pre-op transexual "woman".... :)

Wondering if you ASM folk could give me your input.

Going to be setting up a 100gal. cube with roughly a 30gal. sump. I am thinking of going with the G3 with the gate valve mod, but not sure if I should go recirculating? I've never used a NW skimmer before, so not sure what to expect.

I've been running a beckett for along time (and loved it), but I need something that will make my electric meter spin a little slower. We have the tendancy to stock on the heavy side and that's why I was thinking the G3. Do you think this is a good choice?

Also, does the foam collapse when you feed or stick your hands in the tank? Are they prone to overflowing?

If I were to go recirculating, what flow is recommended to feed the skimmer? I would feed it via a drain.

Charlie D,

How much RO are we talking? Can I just add some via a turkey baster?

I actually cleaned the whole skimmer yesterday and it wasn't very dirty and I am still not getting a whole lot of skimmate? I don't understand it as I am having some algae issues it looks like it would be pulling gunk like crazy.

Just get the G3 and put it in the sump and i am 100% sure you will be sastisified...that is what i did...it works so well, i wouldnt dare mod it for fear of messing it up...if it aint broke dont fix it

here is my g6
