At what age can I be confident that the barring on my juvis is complete?

So I've got a bunch of juvis that are just a little past the 90 day mark. Most are mis-barred. In fact almost all. I'm sure it is due to my inexperience as this was my 1st brood. My question is whether I should begin the cull, or if they are likely to develop their barring any further. Any help is greatly appreciated!! Thanks in advance.

I'm no expert but depending upon the species it could take up to 18 months. If the mis-barring is that bad this early its most likely they will not fill in given time.

I would try to sell off cheap if they are not mis-shaped or deformed or you could use as feeders to others

They are Ocellaris babies. A cross of a Darwin and a regular O/W. They range between 3/4" - 1" in length so to my thinking pretty fast growers??

All things being relative how would you rate the barring on these. On a scale from 1 to 10. 1 being horrible and 10 being perfection. ??? Thanks!

I would have to say you've done a great job raising these guys. Yeah they are mis-bars but I would take them to market because others love those mis-bars (not me though). Keep working on it and you will figure it out, before you know it you will have too many clowns to worry about mis-bars.

IMO those will not fill in and to rank 7-8

Those babies look great! IMHO, as long as they're healthy, bring them to market. Just remember, mutts make some of the very best pets in dogs. These might not be "breed standard" looking Occs, but I'm sure they'll be great fish/pets for someone.

Couldn't agree more. There's only a handful of people that can get clowns to this stage. So the number of people who would really care about the barring is almost too small for the calculator. As long as they aren't horribly misshapen or disfigured, there will be a buyer for each and every one.

Thanks to all who commented. I did end up culling some of them, but I gave them to a fellow hobbyist, so that makes me much happier. I took one final pic before shipping them off. I think it's really cool the way they ball up.

They way they ball up is pretty cool. You just have to be careful at night because they'll ball up at night and sometimes it's like a wrestling match and some get tossed out of the tank LOL

Very nice! Love the misbars too...should take those with the most "misbars" are continue to breed them...
