At what age/size do ocellaris begin to sex themselves?

I picked up a approximately 1" ocellaris today and I'm hoping to get a black variant for a mate.
I was hoping to have the black as the female,
But there a bit hard to come by where I'm from.
So about how long do I have before my current one turns female?

I have never seen a pair of an ocellaris and a black variant. Maybe there are but I have never seen it. What kind of black variant are we talking about here. Like a total different species or just a darker version?

According to the only study I've seen it takes about 6 months for a juvie to become a male. You should get a large black ocellaris 1.5 to 2" would be great. Is there a particular reason you want the black ocellaris to be the female?

Either way it should be pretty easy to accomplish.

before you try, you should know that black ocell + orange ocell = darker orange ocell, it does not create something very different.

I'm just looking for nice contrast in my pair.
I may raise the fry at some point,
But yes I was already aware of the coloration of the offspring.

I have a black and white female perc. and a male perc. right now. They follow eachother everywhere in the tank and are never apart for more than a few seconds. How long until they begin mating. The female is almost 2" and the male is about 1.25", also the males black bands have not widend yet. How long does it usually take until the black bands thicken. Thanks.

Another question. What type of clownfish do you mate to get the snowflake, onyx, and picasso variant of the species? Just wondering.

It's more accurate to say that it take at least a certain amount of time before they sex themselves. It's possible for a clownfish, if it's number 3 in the group, to stay juvie indefinitely. That's one of the problems with WC fish. Even if they're juvenile, you have no idea how old they are. It's possible to buy a juvenile fish near the end of its lifespan.
