ATI fan dc plug question

I hung my 60" 10x80 ati fixture the other day and in the manual it recommends to use a 4.5 setting on the plug and i guess to use the dc tip on the end to plug into the ati unit. Is this correct or does someone know what is correct?

Thanks
Dennis

what it means is in the transformer you could set the output volts to 4.5 if you put it more higher the fans are going to blow more

There is a little door on your transformer. Open it up, and there is a switch in there that you can set (to 4.5)

eggiel - it seems like you have the same DC adaptor as mine came with... is your's the "Lax-Max" one with 6 different plugs attached and a sliding bar on the front?

If so, the sliding bar needs to be at 4.5. I got that much at least - but I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong as none of my fans are blowing. I've checked that the ATI logos are not in contact with the fans as well =\

I understand that the PAR (actually measured PAR) goes up significantly with the fan voltage at 7.5...this was posted by someone in the reefgeek forum some time ago, so look there if you need verification. Yes, the fans are audible at that setting, but still nice and quiet.

Hm.. the plugs don't actually have color tips. There are two that fit, both "barrel" style. One is slightly small in the hole, while the other has a much closer fit. I've tried both =\

Try unplugging the dc adapter and rotating 180 degrees and plug it back in. Be sure power is unplugged first. See if that works.

What part of the DC adaptor? The actual barrel shaped plugs are molded into the plastic. I've tried rotating both the wall plug part of it, and the barrel part of it.

I've also tried flipping the polarity switch on the transformer back and forth, and then plugging it in. Nothing =\

I was able to get the fans to work after I took the DC adaptor apart and then put it back together. I didn't change anything inside, but I guess there was something loose or something inside and I managed to cause it to have contact.

I may buy another DC adaptor, just in case... this one seems to have gremlins =)
