My name is Atilla Ozbek, I live in İSTANBUL. I want to share my tank with you.
Because of the moving a new home, I planned to set a new aquarium. So, transfer of old aquarium into new home was easy. Also I designed it in a better way.
Details of new aquarıum:
Aquarium : 130 x 70 X 58 (h),
Sump : 100 X 40 X 40 (h)
Deep Sand bed : 80 X 40 X 28 (h)
Powerhead : Eheim Compact 5000
Skimmer : ATB Normal Size
Lighting : 10 X 54 DIY + 3 X 1 watt power led (blue and white )
Reactors : the reactor of Reef octopus phosphate (Grotech r remophos ) and exstrem media reactor (carbon )
Dosing pumps : Bubble Magus seven-dosing
Water tank : 30 X 35 X 50
Firstly, I did not want an overflow box in my new aquarium. Due to limited space,I could not put the overflow box behind the aquarium. So I have to use a side-drilled overflow box.
The negative effect of this, it reduces benefits of wavebox.
I had prepared rocks before I put them into the aquarium. Because of my experiments in previous aquarium, I drilled rocks to give shape them and to prevent the overthrow of the frags. I put frag stones into these holes by using plastic screws. That's why, rocks must be suitable for this. So I used fiji rocks and ceramic rocks. You can not use Gökçeada rocks, because these rocks are usually distributed after one or two hole.
I did not want to use sand in the main tank because I want to use wave engines more convenient. But I have to add an extra sand bed to provide reguler cycles and prevent bacteria bed. In this way, the main tank does not include a sand bed, but the other tank includes a deep sand bed(DSB).
Sediments occured in the main tank because of lack of sand bed. if I cleaned them twice a week, it would be better.besides, an aquarium without sand seems strange and artificial to me. So I used the thickest sand of Caribsea brand in the main tank. I used only one bag to provide sand view and prevent the bad image of sediments. What's more, some species will meet the need of sand like wrasse.
I moved the sump system to balcony. Therefore, there is no sound in the room and I can easily interfere. However, I face the heating problem because the sump system is outside.
I used ten 54 watt-T5, two rows blue LEDs and single row of white LED to lighting. Thanks for lighting to Erkin Durmaz(Denizli Denizci).
Before I put the rocks in aquarium, I had put plastic pipes at the base. Thus, I prevented the accumulation of sediments under the rocks and established secret areas for fish. ,
