I've always thought this was a really gorgeous fish.I finally picked one up yesterday ,discounted because of a small wound. It doesn't seem at all to be effected and is eating well this morning.I have three different types of nori ,and other veggie type of foods as a start.

It was impulse but at a great discount from the ABC reef guys.Does anyone else have this fish or info that I may have overlooked?Cooler waters?

they get large!

they get large!

the only full size adult specimen I've seen was up in Toronto's Science Centre.
It was also the only truly blue one that I've seen in captivity.

Swam with Atlantic Blues in Aruba. Small specimens are yellow. Specimens sold in trade are usually yellowish to yellow/blue but never the full blown blue shading I've seen in wild specimens.

I have one, his name is Brutus...
His color range from light yellow with blue/ yellow horizontal lines to almost purple with blue/yellow horizontal lines. Loves mysis, brine and of course nori

Wow , I didnt know that Gary. Not really what I was hoping to hear. From what I was reading it was one of the smaller tangs at 9".I thought my bases were covered for the most part on size being an issue.I was thinking being atlantic cooler water maybe something.

I have a major renovation and upgrade starting soon, gonna have to reasess this.
When you say "large" what would be your reccomendation for tank size for this fish? Also, am I misleading myself in what I read as far as 9" adult size of this fish?

Thank you guys.

I got him from dreaminmel, i've had him for about three months now. He is an animal at feeding time hence the given name.. I have a 90 gallon tank. He's close to being around 6 in. or so.

I have had one for a while and it is extremely blue. It has gets ich on and off very easily over time. Goes for a while being ok and then it out breaks and then is ok. Love the fish though.

Im definately not the most computer savy and pics take me quite a bit of time to get posted ,gota figure out an easier way.I'm having alot of trouble getting a shot of the mark on its side so I may have to go with what I can. What ever I end up with Ill post today sorry for the delay.

~Kent, thanks for the response ,question did you purchase your tang post color morph or did it change under your care?
thanks-Graves

Im definately no oneradtec when it comes to photos (lol)excellent with his photos.

Anyway, best I could get, most of the shots are to blurry.I shot it with lights off.
The more I look at the photos it starts to look like part of the color change but in person its definatly a scrape near the bottom middle fin then back a 1/2 or so.
Cant quite catch with the camera but like I said best I can do.

Nice ,I see why you called him Brutus.lol.

Yours is definatly bluer ,mine much smaller ,it shows the size pretty well when compared to the clownfish .Probably about 3".
Thanks for the shot.very nice.

I'm having alot of trouble getting a shot of the mark on its side so I may have to go with what I can.

From what I'm able to see it looks like a surface abrasion sort of thing. Brutus (great name Henry) had something similar at one point and it seemed to heal up just fine.

If you do not know this already, adding any other tangs after an Atlantic Blue can be an adventure. The one Henry pictured above even aggressively went after a Regal Angel I added so luckily Henry was willing to take him.
