My LFS has some atlantic rose anemones that always look great and are cheap 9.99! I was wondering if that anemone would host the false perc clown? Im lookin to save money. Any thoughts?

Condylactus. They won't host clowns and aren't as colorful as btas. They aren't referred to as 'rose' anemones either, so I'm not sure why your lfs is using that term.

Some of these comments are not true. My neighbor has a Condy and his clarkii clown hosts it. Also I had a purple Condy years ago and to this day had the best color of any anemone I have ever owned. And right now I own 9 bubble tips, a LTA and a purple ritteri

Fish don't host, anemones host. No Atlantic anemones will host. The kind you are talking about must have been Caribbean.

Wrong...
Caribbean is Atlantic... Florida Condy will not only host many different types of clowns (althought I have not seen it host true or false percs), but they also may change colors from white with colored tip to purples and pinks

Im in vegas at the moment but I will take pics when Im back in sacramento so monday. I hope they host clowns cause they are 75% cheaper than a bta. They store keeps clowns with the btas but not with the atlantic roses....might be a clue. Thanks for the comments though! Pics comin soon

Seen Condylactis host clowns many times in aquariums. Obviously, it's not a natural association, because there are no clown species found in the Atlantic. When desperate, clowns will take to all sorts of things as hosts.

I had a pair of perculas host a condy to death...could not take the loving attention they wanted to give it lol

And they are bringing in some very nice colored condys. I has a purple and a green. The color does not stay well under led lighting but atinics they do.

COndy

Winwood is 100 percent spot on.

Condys are not native to the regions where clowns exist. Yes a clown CAN live in a Condy.

I wouldnt suggest putting them together because a condy can eat a clown.

Pictures that prove they will host...these are at my work

^ while what you show is true (your clowns getting along with a condy), it is not entirely accurate to state that this proves it will work. What is shows is one example where it did work. Winwood is correct, condy nems come from a region where clowns are not found. As such, there is a risk that the anemone will eat the fish. It will not always happen as you showed, but it is a risk and the OP should be aware of this.

In your situation, you have two individuals who are getting along for now. It doesn't mean that they always will, and it doesn't have any predictive ability to prove it will always work for others.

Sorry it took me a few days to get the pictures in but from reading the post here I think we can confirm with my pics that I am in fact looking at a condy.
