The unnamed salt water exhibit is a cold water kelp bed tank. Very neat setup, and apparently very difficult to maintain since I was told that kelp is surprisingly difficult to grow in captivity.

The freshwater tank with the rays is 99% donated fish that outgrew their previous owner's tank.

I believe the shark we donated to them now resides in the big Atlantis exhibit, though it may have been moved to the outdoor scuba diving tank.

Chris, did you get to meet any of the staff or see anything behind the scenes?

-Tad

Unfortunately I didn't. I am returning in a few weeks for a behind the scenes tour. I was actually trying to spot our "Rochester native" shark in the 120,000 or the Snorkling pool but had no such luck. I am hoping to meet Joe "fish", (curator of the reef tank) for my next visit

Research tank for the creatures that end up in long Island for the summer months by the current. This here is really cool, you would never think certain fish make it up this far North but you will be surprised.

Hey Chris, those arent snow crabs they are spider crabs and they are a huge nuisance for the fisherman and clammers out on long island.

When I visited last year we had planned to go out collecting but the tides were all wrong for it. But in the few days before I had arrived they had caught many 100's of tropical fish right off the Long Island coast including lionfish, boxfish, clowns, angels and more. Kinda crazy that you can find lionfish off the coast of NY.

Loving these pictures! Keep em coming

Tad that must have been cool! just to have the opportunity to go out collecting with them must have been amazing! They had a few Lionfish that were caught off the Long Island Coast

great stuff..that seems like a awesome place to visit..

love the first ones with the Tarpon area..One thing on my bucket list is to go Tarpon fishing with light gear in the Keys..nothing in the world like it..
