ATO-Pump Recommendations

I believe you just ordered the LM3-RPM model and that is not the LM3-MPM model that I posted. From what I can tell the difference is the LM3-RPM has a 3.5mm head phone jack that is made to plug into the Liter meter head unit as a secondary pump. THE MPM model has the wall outlet plug so you can just plug it into the wall and run it off a timer or what ever. You might want to double check what you ordered.

just keep the tubing going into the sump out of the water an you wont have a back siphon

Yes, but that will not stop the siphon from the ato container? My ATO container is taller than my sump.

I've used a little generic pump from autotopoff for several years without issue.

To stop the siphon issue, put a small hole in the tubing at the top of your container, contained inside the lid.
