ATS Algae Turf Scrubber

Hey guys I know I'm going to set up an Algae Turf Scrubber in my tank. I will build this on my own. I'm looking for advice on the material used for the water to drain down and bed the algae? I have been looking all over the web with no luck.

Plastic canvas. You get it at your craft store like Michaels.

You want Darice #7 clear plastic canvas. Rough it up very well, more than you think you need to. I do it in 2 stages, first I use a wire brush crimp drill attachment at very low speed to take the 'shine' off it (can use handheld brush too) and then a sharp-tooth saw blade in small overlapping circles with gentle pressure. No need to push hard enough that you snag/rip/tear the screen, just take time
