WHAT is the best stuff to use? I have a few floating in my tank and super glue isn't realy workin out does anyone else use something different let me know thanks:eek2:
 
superglue GEL made with cyanocrylate is the one best used... make sure the zoa and rock are dry before attempting to glue... then once glued place the zoa/rock into a cup with tank water.. once the zoa/rock touch the water, the glue will harden up right away... this prevents the zoa from being blown off the rock while curing in the main tank.
 
there is also some stuff you can use to prep the areas of the frag and rock called glue accelerator. Anthony calfo was in va beach may 19th and did a frag demo and he uses the glue accelerator along with the gel super glue. he showed how as soon as you put the glue on the accelerator and touch the two peices together, it was an istant bond! very nice.
 
how do you control the accelerator as far as not blasting the heads of the zoas also i have some but i am to affraid of frying what i would spray it on its a massive blast.
 
If you use the superglue GEL you shouldn't have a problem...Glue the rock, press the bottom of the polyps against it, hold it for maybe 5 seconds, dip it in a bowl of tank water (this not only creates a hard skin on the glue, but keeps the heat created by the hardening glue from damaging the polyps)

Works like a charm.

seriously, sticky rice???

something you might want to add... make sure both the rock surface and the zoa are relatively dry. the gel does have a bit of a tendency to not want to stick if they are very wet... ive used superglue gel forever with great results. just make sure to keep an eye on the piece for the first day or so, as hermits seem to love fresh glue.
 
both zoa's and rocks are exposed to air for as much as hours during low tide. They'll be fine for a few minutes while you glue. And, you don't have to let them sit out and dry off, just dab the parts you intend to glue with some paper towel.
 
did some fragging tonight. took the zoas out and put them on a towel. let them sit out for appx. 5-10 minutes while working on them. they are already open in the tank, only 15 minutes after fragging. let Slakker said they are tidal animals and are out of water in the wild for hours. also many people ship these dry, with damp towels with great success... good luck on fragging!!!
