Is there a safe way to pull a clam free after it has started attatching itself? it has been in the tank for about 24 hours.

I would like to know the answer to this also. I have two clams that I am going to sell (moving and can't take tank). Mine have been in the tank for over 6 months and are firmly attached. Any ideas on how to safely get them to release would be appreciated.

take a razor blade and cut the byssal threads as close as you can to the substrate its attached to

Thanks for the advisebencozzy, I heard from the store and they said clams will even grab onto the plastic in thier holding tanks, and as long as it is it was not too much they could safely be pulled apart. MSU_spartan, I think you will have to cut it loose, this one was barley attatched, and it was still pretty hard core ripping it off.

Thanks for the advice. Didn't want to have to break out the blade, but there doesn't seem to be much I can do about it. Thanks again.
