Been flipping through the pages trying to catch up from the summer i think... lots of new stuff! This makes me wanna get into breeding them so bad... I always love them when they're babies they're so adorable. lol
Best of luck with the new eggs :)

Thanks

I created the following videos tonight while moving my eggs. I was not sure when they were laid but from my best quess based on photos I have seen they seem like they might be ready to hatch. I decided to look at one under the microscope but ended up with two. You can even see the heart beating and the blood flowing through the larvae.

In the second video you can see what appears to be the larvae trying to push their way out of the egg sac.

Hope you enjoy the videos.

Did you just get a new toy? Cool videos.

Nope it's a $10.00 microscope off ebay that I use to check my rotifers. I used an olympus 1030 camera to take the video. It was/is a pretty lame setup.

The eggs did not hatch last night. I am guessing probably tonight based on the eye development.

Very cool. If you get a chance, post a picture of the microscope setup so we can see it. Is it a standard one that you're just holding the camera lense up to and focusing, or something more?

Thanks!

Here is a picture of the microscope and yes I just held the camera up to the lens and started shooting. It's only about 6 inches tall and uses 2 AA batteries to power a little bulb in the bottom.

The voltage is still there and I can't figure it out. Not sure what to do. I can't shut it down. I have the GFCI just have not installed it.

I really wanted to know what colour your algae was. Does it have a brownish tinge to it or has mine spoiled.

Everything will always put an electric field in the water, the best thing to do is ground it out. Thats why you notice it go up and up each time you plug something in. Although there is very very little current behind the voltage it is best to get it out of there.

Well it may be cheap but its cool anyways FB. I saw a digital one at Henrys that was pretty cool for around $200 I think.

I was at work yesterday from 9:30 am to 1:30 am....fun day. I got home aroudn 2:15 and looked in on the GSM eggs. Still have not hatched. The eggs still look in good shape. The temp in the tanks was 82.3.

I have too say that keeping good flow on eggs in a pot is a hell of a lot easier than on a tile. If I ever had left the eggs on the tile in my tank for > 36 hours they would have been white for sure.

I checked again this morning, no hatch. I also lifted the pot up to look at the eggs and they still look healthy and viable although I cannot see any difference in the development of the eggs. I can tell the occelairs eggs just by looking at them the exact day they are on based on colour and eye devlopment.

I will say it again.....Hopefully tonight.

I pulled another egg to look at under the microscope. They are alive and much bigger. Sorry no video's this time. Not sure if they will hatch tonight or not but I'm just gunna leave them alone.

I finally have ROTS. The IA is so easy to use. I poured about 1/3 of my small culture out and the difference from what I have fed every batch in the past year is night and day. I couldn't believe how many there were. To be honest I have no idea how I did it before. I am in the process of starting a third culture just to have a backup backup. I don't want to struggle with rots ever again.

FB, the gsm eggs will drive you nuts. I've found that the eggs must be well over 70% silver, before I move them, and with the eggs being smaller and more numerous, it's real easy to move them too soon.
Sounds like tonight, really load the tank with rotifers. The larvae are smaller and very transparent. I still don't know for sure how many I have from a hatch this past Monday but will let the water clear and find out this weekend.

This is the spawn that never enddsss... Yes it goes on and on......

LOL

Well I have one lone GSM swimming around with what appears to be a very full belly. So it looks like tonight will be the night finally. I have a ton of rots so I'm hoping this will go well.
