Two more tables have been built too hold the 4 larger tanks.

Plubming parts have been purchased but not assembled as of yet. I am really hoping that the mag 9.5 can handle the load of all the tanks.

I also drilled a larger tank about 25 gallons and filled it with about 8 inches of sand. I currently have a maxi-jet in it moving water and will hook it up to the system once the plumbing is finished

Pictures will be posted soon.

FB; am i counting right??

(4) 40g tanks
(1) 65g sump
& a DSB:
All ran off of the one mag 9.5?

Sorry these pics are not the greatest. The bright light threw my camera off.

So current setup is for 8 10 gallon tanks

Close up view of a tank.

Another closeup. You can see the piece of crap tank on the left that I broke.

Here is my ghetto sump --- It's a 65 gallon tank with a corner overflow. I then put another ~15 gallon sump inside the 65 which has baffles and a bulkhead. So the water flows into the 15 through the baffles and then out the bulkhead on the bottom and into the 65. It then travels the distance of the tank to the Mag 9.5 return. I placed my old countercurrent skimmer in the overflow for $$$$$ and giggles.

The return line coming from the mag 9.5 t'd off to the ball valve to control the flow into the tank.

Pump - MAG 9.5
3/4" pvc with 8 t's and 8 ball valves and 1 end cap
2" abs return plumping with 8 t's and 1 1/2" abs removable drain lines plug into the t's to the bulkheads. From the bulkhead we have 1" hose to the 1 1/2" abs drains.

I will be willing to answer and questions you may have.

More work is going to be done tomorrow to get more tanks online. Not sure if the Mag 9.5 will be strong enough but we shall see.

looking good I had to put mine on hold for a while....they were running me ragged...Mine are still spawning but I need some rotifers!
lol

I have eggs again :D My main pair have laid again. A very small nest probably 300 eggs but good none the less.

I went to get some rotifers that were delivered this morning but they were sold out already. So I probably won't have any for my hatch next weekend. I still have my rotifer tank with water in it. I am going to add some phyto and see if it comes back. We shall see.

Congrats and GL. Those rots seem to be able to come back after the harshest conditions. I'm sure you'll have them up and running in no time ;)

Cool FB Looking good luck with it. I'm plumbing this weekend :) I have everything I need to have 2 tanks hooked to the sump I'll add the others as needed / money allows.

I had to go out and buy a 3" pipe for drain. With only 5 tanks online it was almost full.

I have saved the 2" pipe that was already completed and bought a 2" - 3" coupler. I redid all the 8 tanks with the 3" pipe and I am going to use the 2" pipe to go to the other 4 tanks that I am going to setup.

I went to take some pictures but both my batteries are dead and I can't find my wife's camera.

More later

Here are some new photos for you all!

The drains are all complete. The return line will hopefully be done soon. Based on the current water flow I don't think I will need a bigger pump. The Mag 9.5 seems to have lots left in it. Can't wait to get all the tanks full of water. As you can tell it is still a work in progress and still a mess.

Looks good FB. I've been working on mine too. I'll post pics when I have more done. I'm only going to have 2 online right away.

:eek2: Looks great!! So the mag 9.5 seems to be enough for all of those tanks that's good to know, how far away is the return pump from the setup? maybe i missed it in the pictures but is it below the chain of 10g tanks?

This is the best pic to look at.

The sump and pump are at the back right under the window. Here is a closeup

And here is the view inside the sump. However this picture was taken with the 2" pipe not the current 3" pipe.

As discussed the drain plumbing is complete but the return plumbing is not. Looking back at the first picture I am going to cut the endcap off the white pipe and add a union. I am then going to put a 90 and bring the line across the room from right to left. This section of pipe will also contain 2 ball valves for two of the bigger tanks. I am then going to put another 90 and send the pipe back towards the wall. This line will only go as far as needed to reach the last tank and will also contain 2 ball valves for the remaining two tanks. I will then put another endcap to close the line.

Now that the system is pretty much setup I'm looking for some advice on what type of filtration I should get, both mechanical and biological.

I have never had a strictly "Fish Only" system. That and one with such a high bioload, not really sure what direction to go in!

Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.

FB

Fb; thanks for the explanation; as far as filtration i am not really sure either as i have never had that many tanks and bio-load to deal with.

I brought this sandbed online last night. Made a lot of my tanks a little cloudy, but I kind of expected that. I have a small maxi-jet 600 in there to increase the flow a little and try and get more water into and through the sand.
