Attempting to breed clownfish - log

What has changed with your original pair of Ocellaris that they aren't surviving? I'm sorry with all your pairs I've lost touch :)

I have probalby 60-90 in growout. 60 are probably saleable the others are much smaller.

I have yet to get a GSM past day 6.

FB

First, congrats on the split !

As for the GSM's, getting them to eat BBS (day 6-8) is key to their surviving. Have you tried the moonlights yet ?

wow a split,
unique idea with the 53 micron screen although i would think it would clog up real easy as well, interested in what happens if you decide to try it out.

I am not planning on running the water through the tank that fast. It would be more like a fast drip. I don't think the screen would clog up that fast. Although I could be wrong. The whole idea is still kind of in my brain now so we shall see what happens.

OCP1 batch IX sort of hatched last night. 98% egg loss (white eggs).

GSM batch VII is down to about 5 (day 6). They start Met with a really curved tail and the next morning they are nowhere to be found. I never saw them plump up on bbs like my occelaris normally do. They appeared to attracted to the Oto A but its very hard to see if it is actaully being consumed.

Leaving on Wednesday for Cozumel so I will not be posting for about a week.

The owner of my fish store gave me his cell phone number to give to my fish sitter in case of emergency. He aslo gave me some cold hard cash for some of the clowns he has sold. :D

I am sure that will come in handy when you're in Cozumel.

Have a great time!

Cozumel... Can I come?

You have your fish on consignment?

Of course you can come. although I'm only allowed 44lbs of luggage.

I guess you could say they are on consignment. Dosen't really bother me that much!

GSM batch VII is down too 2 (day 8). Neither has a curled tail yet. I fed bbs oto a this morning.

OCP1 batch IX has probably 10-15 survivors. This morning I fed rotifers and oto a.

Fish sitter is coming over tonight to do a walkthrough.

leave early tomorrow morning :D  :bounce1: :beachbum: :celeb1:

Maybe this is a sign that you should just go and enjoy your vacation and worry about the breeding when you return.

Have a great time.

You FB, I take a break and have my hip R&R'D, you really take a break to Cozumel......................................have fun

Back from a wonderful vacation. I have some snorkeling shots I will post in the photo forum when I get all the pics off the camera and uploaded. Will post some pics of some massive nests I saw on this forum since they are relevent.

Fish sitter did a great job while I was gone once again.

She managed to get some fish from OCP1 batch IX through meta (something I have not done in a while :o) Didn't get a chance to really count.

I lost a couple of juv's to jumping. I ussually get 1 or 2 a week. This is something I am going to have to fix in the future. I also lost a green/blue chromis to jumping in my display tank. I am now down too 3 from 6.

I did not have a chance to look for eggs last night but will do so tonight when I get home.

No we went to an all-inclusive (Holiday Village White Sands) Although I have been to the cruise port as well.

Just got my last hyrdo bill $300+ bucks. They estimated the three previous months. Poorly I might add so my monthly is probalby $150.00 instead of the $100.00 they estimated. The A/C has not turned on Yet either. Although I should use less heat in the summer.....I hope!

Ordered 2 bags of Naturose today from Seahorsesource.com.

$25.00 US$ w/shipping to Canada. Hopefully this will start to colour my fish up better.

FB

My wife just picked up my Naturose. No brokerage fees no tax no nothing. Can't complain about that!

Good to hear that you had a nice trip and that the fish sitter did not have any issues with the fish; look forward to seeing the pictures.
