ATTN: LFS employees

It seems to me that some people don't have the ability to problem solve... Like, simple things that they should be able to figure out themselves they ask us...

Eg, "You're overfeeding" -response "how do i stop doing that?"

gee i dunno...feed less? Get a freakin' clue.

i completely agree lol... some people and "hobbyists" are complete idiots... i used to work at a LFS, and this ****ed me off to no end lol... even now, when i see dumb posts, im like "wth" lol

A guy buys a desktop aquarium to set up a pico. He calls and emails to complain that it shorted out, both the light and the filter. He whines that no one wants to help him but he refuses to give out contact information.

Instead, he just writes and calls and posts complaints online - dang near every day. We offer to replace it... but lo and behold, the guy finally admits he took the tank overseas with him. After two weeks of daily hassles with this genius, he's finally told by the manufacturer that he fried his tank plugging a 120v into a 220v.

And lucky him, they'll replace it still, mostly to shut him up since he has been such a complete jerk. Some idiots get all the luck. I hope his new tank gets lost in the mail or falls off a truck.

I hate shark week on Discovery Channel.

Never fails... every year, I get at least one guy that is adamant about setting up a shark tank. He usually lives in a small apartment, and not on the ground floor. Or with his mom, or in a trailer. He wants a 'real' shark, not a boring bamboo or something. Does it have to have so much space, can't it have a little tank? Oh, and he doesn't have a job, so can he put all this on layaway?

I'm still on the fence when it comes to this new show Tanked... it might be good to show people this isn't a cheap hobby or a light endeavor... but there's bound to be a few guys who think it would be cool to turn the car out back on blocks into an aquarium. It can't be that hard, right?

Ok, so customers are what pay the bills, pay the empolyee wages, makes the owner a little profit, etc. etc. no matter how stupid they are.

But sometimes you just gotta vent right? It's been many years since I've been in the industry but we used to have this manual counter thingy fastened to the wall. You know, the type they use in Costco to count the number of customers coming through the door. You click a lever and it advances by one number.

Anyway, whenever we got a stupid question, we would click the counter. I swear, some days I would have to click that thing like 10-15 times in a row for 1 customer!

It probably didn't help that I would regurarly put my hand in the tank with our 15 year old display piranha just to freak them out. I always got a lot of surprised looks with that one especially after we just fed him some live goldfish.

I had to get out of retail. :P Got into a bit of trouble (and got some others into trouble) because of this thread. Do not miss Petco at all.

I am so sad....I spent the last....well.... I'm not going to admit how many days...reading this thread and it just ended. So anticlimactic!

SN: As I was reading this thread, I started to get a little irrirated about the whole "They called the fish Nemo/Dory!!" thing. Then, my husband's idiot friend walked in and said, "Hey, y'all bought some little Nemos!" as he stared at my pair of Ocellaris! :headwallblue:
