August 2006 POTM --- Submit Your Pics

I am launching the August POTM collection process a little earlier this month for a couple of reasons.

1. I have been slipping later and later each month.
2. I am going to be out of town from August 10th - 20th.[/list=1]So, get your pics in! Send them to potm@mycomas.com, please. And remember the rules / guidelines on this page: http://reefshots.mycomas.com.
   1. Submit the originally sized photo to the contest. We will resize it as needed for the website, etc. We need the original in case you win and it ends up in the calender.
   2. Just a little bit of tweaking in Adobe Photoshop or the Gimp can correct color & white balance problems in your picture. This sort of image tweaking is a good thing. Refer to this article by Greg Rothschild on Reefkeeping.com for more information.
   3. Turn off the feature in your camera that prints dates on the picture.
   4. The photo must be taken BY you and be of YOUR tank.
   5. And please only submit ONE photo. I cannot pick from a group as that would unfairly bias the process. Or something like that.[/list=1]I look forward to recieving your pics. I think last month was one of our best yet. Let's top it this month. I would like to personally challenge those who have not submitted before to send in a pic this month.

I figured you all needed some encouragement this month to get your pictures in. So I snapped this shot of my sun coral hanging out with some friends. POOOOOOOR travis...

Yep, I'd have to cut it open and look at the skeleton for a REAL id, but.... And about that sun coral - I didn't realize they were so aggressive. Look at the way it's taking that A. fragmaster down.

DOH! I don't think I'll have access to a cord compatible with my camera for about two weeks Maybe I should just go buy one
