Change to the Meeting Place for the August Meeting. It will be at the Aquarium Restaurant on Sunday August 23rd at 4pm for Dinner and some type of meeting, (mostly visiting & behind the scenes tour). The restaurant is located in the Opry Mills Mall off of Briley Parkway.

We encourage everyone to come and bring your family for the Dinner, and it will be separate checks. Each family will pay for their own dinner and if you wish to take advantage of the behind the scenes tour there will be a $5 dollar charge to your check per person. (A very nice tour for those that have not had the chance to see it)

If you wish to attend and eat and enjoy fellow reefers in a very relaxing atmosphere and watch the great fish they have, then let us know here how many of your family will attend so we can tell the Aquarium Restaurant how many to expect. Hope many of us can attend, it was a great time last time we did this about 2 yrs ago.

Well what better way to spend your Birthday than with the Fishes. Sounds like a winner as I have not seen It yet, And a tour will be a must. I may bring a guest with me I'll let you know.

WHat is the cost for this place? I ahve heard "not bad" to 'Expensive as hell"...I have never eaten there since I really am not into eating fish.

Andy, leave off the "as hell" and that would be about right in my experience, "Expensive" They are a high end place, but do have good food, and they also serve more than just fish :) and to sit and eat dinner with fish swimming all over the place is just awesome. there are no tables where you cannot see the aquarium. Also often get to see the diver in the tank feeding. Hope you can make it!

haha, I would disagree with Norman, I think it's "higher end" for a casual restaurant, but I've been to many restaurants that are much more expensive. I think that $25 a person is about what we normally spend, depending on appetizers and desserts. Definitely not cheap, but not horrible, in my opinion.

The behind the scenes tour is NICE though. I'm not sure if I'll be able to go this time, I'll update closer to the date.

ok, 25 bucks a head isn't bad, and will assume it is expensive for the type of food, but your paying for the tank maintenance hehe.

To be honest, I definitely felt like I was paying for the tank and not for quality food last meeting we had there. I was a bit disappointed with the food, but the achilles tangs made up for it. ;)

I kinda figured as much :)

yeah, I should've elaborated, I've eaten there 3 or 4 times when family was in from out of town, and while I don't feel it was too pricey, I probably would've been pretty ticked to pay that much for the food elsewhere. It's nothing to write home about, but the view is great, and we've always had good service and friendly waitstaff.

$25 per person isn't bad. I've been to plenty of restaurants where your steak alone is $50+ and everything is à la carte.

This is pretty much the way I would put it. I'm from the coast myself, so I've had my share of seafood. I don't think the food is bad by any means, but I also know of places back at my Dad's where I can get just as good (or better) for cheaper. That said, the scenery at a lot of those places is red checkered table cloths, plastic plates and food baskets, and tacky fish mounts on all of the walls... not a huge fish tank full of cool looking fish. Their overhead is huge and you are most certainly paying for that when you eat there. To the extent that the scenery is enjoyable to you will determine if that is "worth" it.

And, FWIW, I may just be too much of a noob in Nashville and don't know where to go, but I haven't found too many places in town that I would say are "worth" the prices they charge for seafood (unless we're talking catfish). Imagine that... landlocked state.
