August Reefer of the Month---slief!!

Congrats! I can certainly understand how you feel about your eel. I currently have a 7" desjardin tang that likes me to hand feed him and pet him. I can see I will miss him greatly someday. Every once in a while very special animals come along in this hobby.

Congratulations. It is stories like this that make me love this site.
Love the picture of you swimming in your tank. Very cool!! Something I would do, after a few drinks as well.

Congrats and that's awesome how long you have been in the marine hobby. its good to know there is still lifer hobbyist out there.

Those are fantastic pictures. I had no idea eels could be so personable. You always read that with their poor eye sight, they are at the least, accidentally dangerous. Real cool to get this whole other perspective. What was he eating at that large size?

He ate a couple pounds a day between fish and cleaned squid. I'd go to the grocery store and get close to 10 pounds of snapper or what ever else was on special every couple days, I'd also go the asian market once to twice a week for several fresh dead squid which I would clean for them. I had a couple more sharks at the time in the garage in a 12' pool. Truth be told it became pain in the butt and a major labor of love. Especially the sharks. The eel was easy.

Scott is a huge asset to the hobby. I bought my first controller from him a few years back. It was an original Aquacontroller serial #968 manufactured circa 1996, it still works and I'm thinking of donating it to the Neptune museum as I have moved on to an Apex. He gave me a great deal on it and went so far above and beyond to help me get it up and running. So from me a sincere congrats, it is a well deserved honor. Also casting my vote now for reefer of the year!

Congrats!!! And I just seen all the LA fishguys episodes bout your 480 gallon tank, that was pretty cool!!
