Aussie Archohelia rediviva

Austin the tentacles are GONE on all of the polyps (from what I can see). That is why I think this frag is "toast".

uhuru....I hope so too, but it doesn't look good.

Thank you doorlady! I was glad to see frags and colonies started to make it into circulation through Cherry Corals, and that you and a few other NPC keepers on this board were able to obtain frags. I'm glad your frag is doing well (I saw your pic). It looks nice and healthy!

I look forward to seeing the progress you and others who obtained this rare coral make, and how it turns out for all of you.

Since the coral is so rare in the hobby all information shared by those fortunate enough to keep it will go a long way into better understanding the husbandry/care requirements to keep such a gem in captivity. I wish you all the best with your frags/colonies, and look forward to pics/updates on the progress you make with this beautiful NPC coral.

jimmy! I think you still have hope...

Unless you lose all color in the polyp, it's still alive!

Buy some Revive, dip it in for a couple of minutes.
Then place it in a quarantine container and use this:

Then cover with Mysis (make sure it's not frozen cold when you place it on top so you do not shock it again)

Keep us posted.

I have 2 frags like your coral now... They arrived stressed, And the guy who had them did not feed mysis! So I'm trying to revive them again.

Thanks for the comments aalhait. The living tissue left is at the very "core" of the polyps, and fading fast. The pics don't show the true state of the coral. The skeleton of the coral is discolored, and my camera isn't good enough to capture the detail. What is actually left of the polyps does not show any sign of accepting "liquid food". No mouth...no tentacles....just a little dab of color/tissue at the very core of the polyps. It's not even capable of capturing and eating cyclopeeze...nevermind mysis.

Also posted in Cherry Coral forum but this may be more appropriate. Re-reading through the thread I see a couple suggestion from 1 to 2 x daily to 'at least 3x week'. Just wondering what has been working best for those of you with it.

In the 2 weeks I've had it I'm noticing slight recession and light brown algae growing in a couple spots. Have fed it directly 7 times, so that's ~3x a week, and in addition to other tank feedings of cyclops. I have a feeling that may not be enough for it. It's been in a fairly low light area with light flow.

Wondering if I need to up the feedings, change the flow or something else? Going to keep lights out for today through Monday or Tue and feed it all weekend. Any other suggestions welcomed.

I was feeding my frag 3x a day + (I was trying to save it...it was very damaged). I would definately up the feedings.

And for those interested the frag ended up dying out after the accident. The flesh left on the frag in the center of the remaining living polyps died out. Unfortunately there was no mouth or tentacles to feed the remaining polyps, so it just wasted away. sux :(

How are everyone's A. rediviva doing...? Any update pics? Mine is alive but looks much like the day I bought it, maybe worse after being away for trips and not feeding as often as i can. Definitely not growing, but not really dying either. Need to find it a permanent spot in the dark, as one dead area keeps getting algae growth.

My small piece was in subdued light and rather quiet flow. Polyps weren't extending as much as previously, so I moved it to higher flow and less light. It closed up completely. I moved it back. Not sure what to do.
