aussie echinata is all colored up now

How do you guys keep the body of your echinata so white? Mines is turning kinda peach color, same with white loripes in my tank. My po4 is at 0 to 0.01 and nitrate < 5. I had them up high in the tank under 250w MH and also lower in the tank on the sand, both likes to darken eventually.

I've never seen this type of echinata ("Aussie") in our area of upstate NY. Are you sure you don't have "Hawkins" or other?

I think ARC have one that they sell frags of. My old one might not be an Aussie but it isn't a Hawkins either. Don't have a pic of it, it was from a while ago. I do have this piece that shows what happens:

meh, lost it when the pump stopped working. It grew about 2.5", I fragged it, and it grew another 3/4" before dying so I'd say roughly 3-4" a year can be expected from an echinata.

[/IMG] this pic was from november-ish and you can see how much it had already grown

yeah no kidding. Also lost an 8" lokani, a small colony of sanjay's milka stylo, a 3" purple monster mini colony, 6" aussie table colony, 5" sunset colony, 8" ball of phonape birdsnest that I'd been growing for 4 years+, 5" colony of the original ora tort from before the hurricane, etc etc
