Aussie Elegance Coral

Alright I been reading about these and been wanting one for quite sometime. Tonight I picked one up. What I am wondering is what everyone does for care. I have it in what I would consider moderate flow. It has flow that is alternating where you can see the tenatacles waving quite good then it stops. Then the tentacles begin to flow again.

I have it in the sand which I hear is good for some people and not for others. The flesh of the coral isn't touching the sand or the rock in which is behind it. I know it will inflate quite large and I am thinking I have it in a good location but not quite positive yet.

Lighting it is being kept underneath is LED's.

What does everyone suggest for flow? I am more contained about the flow at this point the lighting for the simple fact it "puffed" up within minutes of being in the tank. I also noticed the tentacles look a bit more longer and puffier than where I bought it.

Any and all comments would be awesome and thanks in advance. I will work on getting a picture as well.

Thank You

I just picked up an aussie pink tip and I have it in a corner with low flow from the anti-sync vortechs and moderate light. I've always wanted one and after doing a lot of research, I'm glad I held out long enough to wait for my lfs to get an aussie. They really are mesmerizing, congrats on the new addition.

It sounds like it likes your placement. I kept mine in the rocks which seemed fine but I had it hanging over a precipice and had no support so it tore away from its skeleton a bit. But then i placed flat on the rocks keeping it an inch above the sand. That way it doesn't trap waste. But really when you see it open up it means it likes it. And they really get huge! I had no idea that what I bought was going to open up like that :) It is now my favorite piece by far.

Ours loves just a little flow and to be in the sand at the bottom....we have also feed ours several times a week with some mysis and it's increased it's size to about 8" when it's open. We just fragged it into three sections so we're excited to have some "baby" aussie elegance now ;)

Hey Holsteiner, if you have any pointers on fragging these I would greatly appreciate them! Mine is huge and would like to frag into 3 sections as well (it has three mouths), and give one to a friend. My understanding is that they can be fragged the same way as any other lps, just not sure where to cut the sections after its all closed up.

Here it is the first night. Seems to be in mod-high flow.

Sounds a looks like too much flow they seem to close up when the flow is too much. And its tentacles seem quite a bit short. But I could be wrong. Imo if hasn't lengthened in a day or so I would move it to moderate to low flow. Just enough to get it to sway. It has nice colors though

Well thought I would update. It is eating mysis and immediately encloses around the mysis when spot fed. However, still not opening completely to my satisfaction so I moved it a bit. Thinking I may have to do some re-work in the tank to try and get it to a place will low flow. Not many spots in my tank are low flow unfortunately.
