So this guy is deteriorating fast as you can see. Got him a month ago. First week it would open up, long tentacles, etc.. very elegant.

Then the mucas stuff appeared, not opening fully, retracted tentacles.

Tried moving it, feeding it, giving some shad, removing the slime.. anyone recommend something to bring back to life?

It's at bottom of a 150gl, in a corner with mod. flow, I run T5's and MHD for 6hrs, led moon at night. Calcium/alk/ph in line,no nitrites.

Sounds like ECS in which case nothing can be done for it. May want to to a search for Elegance Coral Syndrome on the web. I love elegance corals but getting 1 without this disease now a days is hit or miss. Even Aussie corals can get it simply by being in a tank that at one time housed an elegance that had it.

That is the difference though. Aussie shipment of corals don't go in the same holding tanks and go through different suppliers than the ones from Indonesia. So they don't get it. I've actually never seen a Aussie one get it. If one says that the Aussie Elegance got ECS most likely if was from Indo and not Aussie. But to the original poster most likely its a goner, If you really like them, search around for a Australian one. They do a hell of a lot better. Just make sure its Australian. The thing that sucks is you can't tell the difference on where they are from, so the only thing is to trust the place that your getting it from says its actually one from Australia, which can be tough.

It is true that Aussie Elegance is less likely but if any of the holding tanks also housed Indo versions then they can become cross contaminated. Even LFS that get from both indo and Aussie can cross contaminate them.

Just from the description of the white mucous that was the start of the issue it sounds like ECS. It may be something completely different but just because it is Aussie does not mean it is safe from ECS.

Never said Aussie ones are completely safe. Just saying i've never heard of anyone's elegance getting ECS from a true Aussie Elegance. I know most LFS aren't like this, but the LFS that I go to has specific Aussie tanks which looks amazing because everyone knows how nice Aussie corals are. He does that to not mix diseases.
