Aussie Golden Torch

What's the best place to put an Australian Golden Torch? Top, middle, or bottom of the tank?

Also, how much flow does it require?

It appears the arms do not flow freely/wavey like my other indo torches.

My tanks is 20 inches tall with 250 watts DE MH.

Thanks.

With your setup bottom will be good. I have mine on the bottom of a 28" deep tank with 250 watters over it. The flow will dictate how much it flows, the lower the flow the more it will open, higher flow will cause it to stay much closer. I have 2 golden torches, one in low flow and one in more medium flow. The higher flow one is much more closed, but both look healthy and are growing.

I have found mine has tolerated a variety of conditions . My tank is 21" tall and i had it under a high par ati sunpower in the bottom third of the tank. Now it's under radion LEDs and loving them. I even had it spawn right after changing to LEDs. I have 2 vortechs on the tank, does well in higher flow. Here is a pic of the spawn, if you look close you can see the eggs.

Agree with a little higher flow but not a severe blast. best to get them moving in all directions. I have my orange one right at the top (16" tall tank) under a 4 bulb T5. I found that the torach retains its orange color better under higher light. Crappy cell phone pic doesn't show the coral but that is an orange torch and a green one...

indo torches generally have thinner and longer tentacles so it looks like it sways more with the flow.

Gold torches

hi Guys
we find gold torches on drop offs around reef plato's with med currents in clear water, they live with other reef speices and feed on the same foods
we hold them with HO T5's about 10cm under the surface

hope this helps as we collect them

cheers nic CDU

What depth are you collecting the torches from?

they seem to enjoy medium flow mine gets medium high flow and is as fluffy as ever

I just picked up 3 heads. As of now they are on the sand bed under a 400 watt 12k halide with 160 watts of t5 supplement stretching the length of a 210. I just got them 2 days ago and they haven't fully open yet. Medium flow. Is that good or is it too much light at first?
