Here's a question for you experienced HT owners. Do they go through periods where they do nothing but sleep? Mine has always slept for 18 hours a day...doesn't matter when I turn the tank lights on..he ain't moving till 7 pm. But the past couple of days he is just chillin' on the bottom in his sleep corner. Breathing normal, acting normal, just sleeping all the time.

Started to get a little concerned so I threw in some cut up shrimp (favorite food) and the tusk didn't move for a minute or so. Then he snapped to and ate about five pounds of shrimp and went back to his corner to sleep it off.

Is this anything to be concerned about, or just a quirky fish being quirky?

mine is very active from the moment the lights are on ,sleeps and hides when there off. tusk can be unusual at times!

It was cutting around the tank all day yesterday, so I dunno.

I purchased this aussie last week. Local store had him for 6+ months in a small tank.... he much happier now.

They are nice indeed!! But got rid of mine cause he kept eating my hermit crabs n snails...only downfall
