Austin's Innovative Marine SR-120

Actually couldn't agree more. The baffles on mine are the exact same way, however I found that putting a little piece of foam over it helped tremendously.

By looking at your pics, I cant see your skimmer anymore. Do you still have the Tunze unit or did you switch to something else?

The Tunze 9006 is out. It never worked in the sr-120. I had to have the water level super high to even have a shot at skim. I am trying the hydor skimate to see if that works. I heard the Tunze 9004 has a rectangle skim cup so I may try that next.

I've read some people have alot of salt creep issues on their rear wall if you have it too close. I think these look real nice though when it's clean.

I have the deltec mc500 and the Tunze 9011 going right now. The deltec I can fit in the sump next to one of the pumps no problem, but the tunze has greater flow aside from the cup not fitting.

My dilemma is, do I run the deltec in the middle sump or do I just get the tunze running and build a square cup out of acrylic. I have breaking in at opposite sides of the tank in the front to see which one I like more. The Deltec is way more adjustable and seems to product better bubbles, but problem is I cant really tell since since I'm not getting much skimmate from either since I'm like 3 weeks into my cycle.

I do have a question for you though...you got that marinepure bio pad block thing...where did you end up placing that and how do you like it so far?

Also, what water height do you have the back sumps at just for reference?

Thanks.

Update- 3.12.14

I changed the rock structures again and did a 40g water change.

I added a bubble magnus doser doing ALK, CA & Acro Power.

I made some changes-
I put two pads above the filter socks. It reduced the sound a ton. I swap them out on a regular basis.

My anemones are keeping good colors and my Maroon / Occ Hybrids are happy.

I removed the filter block. I heard some bad things about leeching silca so we will see.

Skimmer Update- Sold the Tunze 9006 and just have the hydor skim mate running. It is rated for 65 gallons so I will picking up another one at some point in the near future. It is pulling out a fair amount of skim.

my sr-60 arrived in about a billion shattered pieces so i will just have to continue to enjoy this thread for another 10 days until mine arrives for a second try :)

no, i had it direct shipped from marinedepot.com to my house shipped via freight. Guess it had a rough ride over the 3 day trek to florida. They have already shipped another one, just tough bc im dying to get this puppy going!

Weird, Mine was wrapped very well. Even the ones I have seen come in to the LFS were well wrapped.

what skimmer have you found to work the best? I have a cadlights pls 50 ready to use, but was curious if you have found a better solution in the different ones you have been trying? I believe the compartments are the same width in the sr-60, 80, and 120 if i am correct?

I have the hydor skimmate that is rated for 65 gallons works fine. My friend has a tunze 9004 going and loves it. I am going to get a second one. I am leaning that way.

the tunze 9006 did not fit. The skim compartment was round so it did not fit. But the 9004 and the hydor skimmate both fit. The only negative is that you need two of them since they are both rated for 65g.

I ended up getting the deltec mc500 and placing it in the side where the return pump goes. I used the 2 side compartments for my full size reactors. The deltec pulls like crazy, but I haven't quite found a sweet spot for its skim quite yet.

How would you guys rate the hydor skim? Can you show me a pic? What kind of bio-load you got going on?

Noticed you said you have a hard time keeping her clean with all of the salt creep....I too had the same problem, but I devised this little trick and I swear it's made 500% difference on everything. Seems the overflows just splashed everywhere so I cut a couple squares a acrylic and placed them angled over the water flow.

No more salt creep...I mean like...none! Hope this helps.
