I got one recently from FAOIS. It was a beautiful specimen. I figured I'd give it a shot. For one thing I couldn't keep my large wrasse from sleeping next to it and he kept covering it with sand every night. Unfortunatley I only have a small area in my tank where I can put it upright in the sand in my tank.
Needless to say it didn't end well. Bummer too it was a very pretty piece. I'm pretty sure it was the circumstances of my tank that did this piece in. That and I'm not around every day to check on it.
I've heard that they can be difficult to keep for whatever reason.
A LFS brings them in every couple of months.
A couple gets bought right away but being so expensive most seem to sit in the store.
The last couple I have been watching did great for a month or so before doing the bloating and covered in mucus thing then melting.
I've read they were more hardy but the ones I've seen don't seem to be.
That's going to be the new marketing gimmick i think... People will try and put off bali elegances as austrailian corals... So make sure you trust who you are buying them from.. Just to add, I'd trust John to have the real deal FWIW
