Ok lights are on so I am able to take a better look see. It's bluer and nicer than I thought:

And stormtroooper is right. This hoek has pinkish polyps. It's like a pink lemonade hoeksemai.

no it did not. i actually just put a piece of rock underneath the colony so that the sand doesn't smother any part of the branches. However the colony was bigger than pictured. There was another branch that I'm assuming died at the facility, but they decided to drop it into my bag anyway. It was a good 3 incher too.

wow, there really is some crazy nice pieces coming in from the land down under. Wish I had room for one of those.

This piece came in pooh pooh brown when I got it 2 months ago. I don't think it will ever get that neon pink glow again:mad2:

Why? I've seen hundreds of these corals over the years. I don't mean to be a buzz kill, but this is just more of the same hype that continues to permeate the hobby.

Dang, that is nice! What lighting are you using? I would think 400w 20K metal halides would get the color back. Also, water quality plays a big role in coloration.

Nice piece M007. What's the ID on that wild colony? I like the yellow feather duster hidden in the branches of the sps too. Very unique!

I think we've settled on A. Loripes. Yeah the worms did it for me. I believe they are Christmas worms :fun4: Thanks for the compliments guys.....

James this is my purple(old pic) but the blue is stunning! Nice find! Hopefully Atlantis's colony will grow enough here soon so I can snag a small branch.

Hey Andy,

That's a nice colony you got there man. So you don't have it anymore? I think color wise my piece and yours are the same. My pic is kind of saturated with blue from the 20k's. Do you remember the color of the polyps on your hoek?

i also wonder if there are any differences between the aussi hoeks and the indo hoeks. :D

Ed, when is the last time you've seen large a. echinata offered to the hobby?

Some look common but others are much different from anything Ive seen offered in a long while... Especially in more than a 1" frag...
