AuThoRitY's 90g Build Thread!

Yeah... that is totally what I meant by backward.

No...

I meant that you should have set up your plumbing such that the pipe going straight down leads to the fuge. And the other one leads to your sump. That way you can partially close the valve on the pipe that leads to your fuge and not ever have to worry about a flood.

Heres a picture of what I mean:

The way that you have it, the most likely thing to clog is the partially closed valve that leads to your sump. If it did clog, all of the flow would go through the fuge, and my guess is that the outlet from the fuge would not be able to allow that much water to drain and the fuge will overflow.

Nice looking tank BTW.

ooo ok, I get what your saying.... Well that would be a good idea, but it works out now to where I have both valves 100% open and I get a slight trickle out of the fuge,,,, I don't know how much but its a fairly steady stream coming out, so I'm happy I guess... Thanks though.

yea should be here by the end of the week,

20k Radium 250
250 IceCap
Lumen Bright Mogul Based Mini, 15x15x10 or w/e Pendant though not reflector.

............some bad news, as I'm posting on a seperate topic about it but in a nutshell,,, had microbubbles and tried redoing some plumbing and I bought a big yellow sponge from walmart,,, wrapped it around my drain exit so the water would flow through the sponge breaking down the bubbles... worked for a while.... well yesterday I noticed my tank was cloudy and a weird color... thought nothing of it,,,, got home today, tank was pure yellow... I was like are you freaking kidding me,,,, yellow sponge died my water yellow..... so I took the sponge off did a 30g change, and am awaiting the morning to see how its going, I didn't want to do a much bigger change, and actually couldn't as thats all the r/o I had made.... so that ruined my night =/

lol right,,, I'm hoping the water changes help, I'm just worried that from changing so much will it affect my fish or no?

as long as you adjust the temp to the same as the tank and make sure the ph will not swing that much because the tank is new it will be ok...maybe not do 90 all at once but 40 or 50 would be fine. i do weekly 35-40 gallon changes so i do not have to add stuff...keeps the calcium up and all....can get pricey though but i just bought a bucket of reef crystals salt for 31 bucks!!!

wow thats really good,,,, ..... my LFS's sell it for 60,,, but now a few of my LFS are saying that Oceanic is best salt. I've been using RC though....

And light came in yesterday, bulb and pendant, waiting on ballast, (was backordered) should be here today, then it will hopefully be hung by the end of the night . w00t :D

yea 100% cleared up,

also got my first set of halides running today... looking good :D still got to clean up and mount my ballast etc.... but other than that its looking good.

Well heres a fairly big update for the week I guess :D had my light for about 3 days now, these pics are off a poor camera, so the blues and vibrant colors off of the color don't show near as good as they do in person, but you can get an idea :D Just 1 set,,, pretty broke, for christmas I'm getting

-JBJ AutoTop Off
-Another Pendant
-Ranco Controller
-Reactor

:D so I'll have an update on christmas most likely too, anyway heres the tank as of now,,, no actinic supplements running radium 20ks, and for some new sps frags today. :D enjoy
