AuThoRitY's 90g Build Thread!

No, the line that is feeding them you will put on the inlet side of the add on canister. Pretty much unhook the ones on your unit now and replace w/ the new one

You guys are saying the same thing. Unhook the 2 horizontal DI filters on top of your unit, and then connect the vertical DI filter in their place...

lol ok, i got it, i wont do that for a while, i want this to make my 90 gallons first for my tank i cant afford all of this extra stuff right now, so a little down the road i will buy the additional one :) hopefully ill start plumbing the back of the tank tomorrow, still very unsure about my fuge/sump idea, ill figure something out, thats one of those things that come together at the time ur doing it,

thanks, im gonna keep posted as much as possible, last night my cars trans took a sudden crap out of the blue, and i really dont have the money for my car, and my job revolves around my car, and my tank has come to a pause, however i have everything ready to go except for the LR, or whatever im using just have to plumb the tank, and figure out how im gonna do the sump etc etc, and ill be good STAY POSTED everyone thanks!

yea man it sux, especially in the almost finishing part of my setup, i at least wanna get this thing cycling!

yeah but you are doing it right....the worst part about this hobby is that things take time and patenice and a most...i think i did not realized that when i set up my first tank.....i love doing things fast...i guess thats why my 75-now my 110 build is taking so long...but it will be up soon...good luck...and my car is messed up too....i bought a NISMO intake for my NISSAN car and it does not like it.....veryyyy annoying

hahha, i hear ya man, yea on my 29 I FLEW and didnt listen to anyone on here, and they all said TIME is key, i didnt care, and boom stuff died blah blah blah, and now its very good, but i should have listened, on the 90 im glad im taking my time and doing everything right i hope it will pay off, im sure ill get infested with something off the bat knowing my luck, hope not but we'll see what happens,

you should set up a BIG fuge and a nice size deep sand bed...you have the fish room...and tanks do not cost that much....with a 20 gallon or bigger fuge with macro and a 10 gallon tank or bigger with sand...you tank for be very stable i would think...and later on you have room for a calcium reactor if you want...and you were talking about setting up auto top off, which i want too...so you could get a 10g tank...wich is dirt cheap...if you were in va i would give you one.....use all that room to your advantage, take the extra time and plump in those extra tanks for all that good stuff, in the long run you will be like sweeeeeeeeeeeet!!!!

fuge is another word for refugium right? basically the sand bed with the alage? i had a spot for that in my sump that came with the tank thats where I was going to do that, I'm still just trying to figure out what to do for a skimmer thats my biggest problem, I'm not sure how to connect my 1 drain line from my tank to the sump and another tank where my skimmer can be,..... I have no idea, wish I had someone near me that could help !!! ahhh lol

well it looks like you have 2 drain lines, unless you were planning on using on of those holes for a return which i would not do.....you can either use a pump to get water to another tank and let it drain back in to the sump with the return pump or well thats the best idea. i will make a little drawing for you in the am...i am not good with words...maybe someone else can explain what i am trying to say.

Some good work done thus far. I should have clicked back a few days ago!

Agreed about the DI unit, I bought mine here, but it seems to be about the same price.

thanks, i like the buck field ones ive heard good things, and the prices arent too bad, i would go with the double stage one on that website, in the long run when I need to change my filters for now though I think I'll be ok,

Matt, thanks a drawing would be sweet, let me know, and yes I was planning on using the one on the left for the drain and the one on the right for a return, this is a no no ???? I thought this is how everyone did it???

Paulie, I think I figured out a way to use my sump that came with the tank, I'm going to run bioballs most likely yes its a nitrate factory, but I don't want that whole thing just to run empty or possibly I'll just do LR rubble, now however, Im thinking about the AquaC EV120 or EV180, as you can run them externally :) right up my ally, let me know what you think.

You only have to support front/back on the tank?

On an in wall build I like to use black "ez stick" limo tint for the back (leaving the sides open). The reason for this is it allows viewing from the fish tank room and the black limo makes it look perfectly blacked out while viewing from the "viewing" room. Leaving the sides open isn't a big deal because due to refraction (assuming lights off in the fish room) you can't see anything anyhow. Black side walls make for more of a mirror effect and "shrinks" the tank.

The other cool thing is that if you do reverse light refugeum the light bleed makes for a pretty cool night effect.

Also, one more thing, did you level the tank perfectly? Now is the time to do it. Also assume some shrinkage on your 2x4s and check the level again in a few months. My tank needed shimmed after that amount of time (in wall 90 like yours).

tint would have been a sweet idea,,,, i like the painted idea, i think I'll be ok, worse comes to worse I can always scrape, and what you mean I only had to support back and front? i basically built 2 walls, and they connected to each other lower down, its 4 inches by 4 inches front and back leaving about8 inches in the middle , the tank really will be fine, its not going to cave in lol, i could park my car and that wall I built, the tank filled with rock should be close to 1500 lbs, but its also on a basement floor so... its not going anywhere, trust me on that.
