I use the eheim double barrel one. Has worked well, but as with anything you add to the tank before vaca, you want to make sure it's working properly before you go. At a minimum use it for 2 weeks prior to leaving
I quite like it, the only thing is that the thing seems to be made for flake or something. If you use pellets like me (which are MUCH MUCH more energy dense than flake) you end up using the smallest opening of the mouth AND adding some tape to make it even smaller! This gives me about 15-20 small pellets (for my 8 fish).
Even though it tries to keep the food from clumping from moisture it still clumps slightly and you have to shake the thing slightly to free up the clumps every few days.
It probably wouldn't clump if I used a larger opening, but that would feed a lot more food than I want to feed.
I use a Neptune AFS, it is basically a Lifegard Intelli-Feed with Neptune interface. It works well and has been reliable. But you do need to be careful when removing the canister to fill, it is easy to spill everything in it into your tank.
I strongly second the need to have it up and running for several days before you leave. Play with the settings and amount of food dispensed so you don't over feed. If you don't have time to "break-in" the feeder routine, you might want to skip feeding all together if you will only be gone for a few days.
I have used both Eheims, the twin and single, both work very well for NLS pellets.
I agree w/ testing, I actually sat mine on a dinner plate to check what it dumps for a full cycle before trusting it while I was away.
I use my single every day, it helps me feed my anthias that require several daily feedings.
