Auto Shut Off not working - help?

I have had an Auto Shut off for quite a while for my RO/DI, just never put it to use until now.

I installed it as directed, pretty easy really. But when I pinched the output closed, the water just kept running. It continued to produce waste the same as when the output is not restricted.

Its a Coralife Pure-Flo II Float & Shutoff Valve, run on a Coralife Pure Flo II RO/DI with a Kent Flush valve (also installed today), and an inline TDS.

any ideas?

Well it is shutting off.......for 5 seconds. The valve then shakes, and starts back up.

Does it need a surge tank device? I think I've seen this problem discussed before.

Nope, it should work stand alone. What is your water pressure? Are you sure there are no leaks in the RO/DI system? It can take some time to purge all of the air from the system if it has never been shut-off with an ASOV... But that fact that it shuts off, shakes, then comes back on is odd.

When the RO/DI is running normally, the pressure sits about 62-65, whent the ASOV is actually shut off, it bumps to 75.....then it shakes, and the pressure drops to 55 momentarily.

I'm just as confused.

I believe it's just getting all the air out of the system. It might take a few days of auto-shutting-off (nice word) to accomplish this. It will work though.

If it continues you can take it apart and check the rubber membranes in it....I had a ruptured membrane in mine once and it acted funny at first then just never shut off.

It may take a few days to completely evacuate all the air out of the housings and valve. ASOV valves do work best if you have a small bladder tank or drinking water pressure tank in the line as the captive air acts as a cushion. It will work without one in most cases though. If it continues to malfunction Spectrapure has a small air tank which will solve the problem.

I have let it run with the outlet shut off for 20+ hours now with the same result. While the shuttering has gotten better, its still not working correctly.

I can't keep wasting water trying to get it work correctly.

Anyone know where I can find a properly working ASOV, not in a kit?
