I will be getting my RO/DI unit shorty and want to set up a Auto Top Off System, but am not a really DIY person:o

I've done a couple of searches and found this link:
http://www.melevsreef.com/plumbing/auto_topoff.html

but am not too confidence on my abilities to complete this without messing something up. Soooo, would anyone want to build one for me for cash/coral/beers or whatever is fair?

Located in Elk Grove so please PM me if you have the time:D

I wish I was closer as I love setting up those sorts of things. I set mine up in a very similar fashion to melev's on his site.

The one thing I could reccomend to you if you can't find anyone closer would be to check out aquahub.com and look at their kit. It's all inclusive (minus the pump, but who doesn't have one) and you really can't screw up with that system. It's very easy to put together and fairly inexpensive as well. I don't think you could mess that up :D

Like I said, wish I was closer and I'd be there in a second to help out!

Auto Top Off class?

Auto Top Off class?

I would also like to set up an ATO. I purchased most of the items required to set up the ATO system described here. I just need to get the transformer.

Unfortunately, I won't have any time to do this project until next month. If you can hold off, we can build them together and help each other out.

We tried setting up a class for the club a while back, but no one was interested..

I'd be MORE than willing to host a DIY on ATO's.
I have built over 8 of them now.

I have been needing to build one for my frag grow out tank in the garage. I have all the stuff I need for it, just need to build it.

Are you guys interested in doing this?
I could supply the basic parts, like housing box, relay, transformer, plug, wire, etc...
You would need to supply float switches, snail guards, mold a hold, pump, etc...

Let me know if you are serious about this and we can set up a DIY class over at my place.

Steve, I am serious about this. If its just a couple hours, I can probably do this any weekend. If longer, will have to push it out a few weeks.

I have purchased float switches from aquahub (no spares) and relays from ebay (3 spare for anyone else). Just need to find some transformers, and pick up a couple spare aqua lifters and I'm good to go. I can bring my soldering iron if we want a second one.

I also want to setup a simple 'sun-tea top off' for my QT tank. http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=661601

Im seriously up to do it. Can this stuff be picked up locally? Or is it one of those things that really has to be picked up online?

Although the mold-a-hold is a 'nice to have' is it really a necessity? I'm hoping I can just create an acrylic holder for my switches.

Ok my kit is on order now to accually have a DIY Class. Anyone else need to do this besides us 4?

Mark, nope the mod a hold is not a requirement. HOWEVER I thought the same as you, until I saw how WELL the mold stuff worked.
But you can do this project with out it for sure.

I'm going to start another thread to get an official count and sign up place.
