Automatic Feeder

Does anyone use or has used an automatic food feeder when they have gone on vacation?
If so, what kind do you have?

I use the sister version 3. Works great and if you upgrade it with a case of beer it cleans the house and let's out your dogs. Sister version 3 has internet updates available but can't be combined with the beer upgrade as readings become erratic and unreliable....

whatever one you decide to go with for pellet food make sure you get the one that hooks up an air pump to it to keep the moisture out. I have a Nutrafin Profeed ( http://www.aquacave.com/hagen-nutramatic-profeed-brplus-fish-feeder-2402.html ) that has two feed settings but it always get moisture in it because it needs mounted on the rim or brace of the tank. It really works great but every other week you have to take it off and clean and dry it out.

I've been using the Aquachef feeder to feed flakes to my freshwater fish twice a day for about a month. None of: programming it, mounting it, or filling it were the easiest things, but since I set it up I haven't had a problem.

I also use the AquaChef to feed once daily while I'm at work, and have it drop the food in front & above my return flow to help disperse the food.

I used the "son, version 1" while on vacation in Hawaii..
Ours has the cell phone feature, If something happens & it doesn't know what to do it calls my cell phone.... :D
It also takes care of dosing and feeds the cat & dog.

If anyone wants to use it, feel free though it is 23 years old.

I use local club members - poor Cloaker got stuck with a dying tank due to a electrical problem last summer. Somehow a fuse tripped . I still owe you a case of beer Nathan. I am sure if you have someone close they can look in on the tank. Auto feeding is Ok, but even automatic dosing, auto water top offs , etc. fail or dysfunction - have someone check on it occasionally. I would have lost the whole tank if not for a very good tanksitter.
