azreefgeek 100g Automated In-Wall Tank Build

I would beef up the framing. I don't see the 4x4 in the picture.

I did beef up the stand a bit more. The pressure treated 4x4 is on the living room side of the tank, supporting the coated MDF platform. The dining room side is supported by an array of 2x4's. I will post some pics.

I need to post a lot of pics of the tank this weekend. I put in water, sand and seed rock last week to get the cycle going...

Drywallers will be in on Monday to get things finished up :-)

The PAR was pretty good on them as well. If I remember correctly they were at about 170 at the bottom of the tank.

Here is a PAR chart:

I have the cannons about 20" off the top of the water.

NICE JOB!!! I'm not that brave to do this kinda thing on my own... I can put stuff together but I'm not a very good planner. Cant wait to see it all finished. I too am jealouse about the automatic water changes! thats awesome!

Now you're talking. Congrats! It looks like your coming along nicely.
It will look much cleaner once the drywall is done.

Are you gonna saran wrap the top?? to keep dust out during construction?

ya, I was going to saran the top and I made some acrylic inserts that fit flush on top of the sump around the skimmer and reactor etc.

I'm interested in how you are integrating Control 4 into your build. I'm running a full Apex and Control 4 operation on my home but have not found a way to integrate the two to be controlled through one interface. I would love to know your experience.

I have one of my employes working on writing a driver for manual control of the tank via control4, but we have had a few flex/flash projects lately he has been swamped with.

Unfortunately Neptune does not have a documented API but you can take a look at the web pages on the Apex to see how control/configuration information can be passed back in to the controller. Also for logging and status there are several xml web pages available. Take a look at:

And you'll be able to see how you can interface to the Apex system if you are a bit technical.

Hopefully Trey will chime in but I saw the tank not too long ago and its looking great. The LED's have the corals growing well and the colors really pop. The water change system is done by a spectra pure unit if I recall correctly. Hopefully we will get some updated pics soon.
