Wondering what product is better and more clean. ive been using BRS for 3-4 years with good results.. lately , i start getting nasty residual in my ALK reservoir ( using soda ash)
my friend is using b-ionics two part and swears for it...
your thoughts guys

The 2-parts all seem to work well. I used B-Ionic for years, then switched to the DIY formula. Both worked for me.

this will be my next try, soon as i finish BRS stuff..
really concern why i have nasty ,black residual in my ALK conteiner..

I've been using the two part for quite sometime ( 2 yrs ) with good results until I decided to switch to Kalk Dosing. Both works well.

It seems like the brs stuff is diluted, which takes a huge daily dose to get my alk and ca up! I just ordered the b-ionic today and hope that it will cut my dose down and keep my parameters more stable.

It seems like the brs stuff is diluted,

It is designed to be slightly less concentrated to allow easier mixing of the alk part, but it is not hugely less potent, and if you really wanted to, you can make it slightly more concentrated. Don't count on the dose being much less with B-ionic.

This is what i have in my Alk container. I use dry soda ash from brs:(.

I personally prefer b-ionic. When I tried the BRS stuff, the Alk component seemed to be settling out when added to my tank (saw white particulates) as opposed to just the white 'puff' with b-ionic. Perhaps just user error, and it would make no difference, but since I don't use a ton of the stuff I just went back to b-ionic.

Folks more often report brown solids in the calcium portion when using something like Prestone Driveway heat. Since baking soda is fairly cheap, I might use that instead if you keep seeing that brown precipitate.

What is this brown stuff ? Is it toxic ?
I mix soda ash , whatever i left in the 5 g bucket but looks crystal white .

In the calcium supplement, brown stuff is most likely iron oxide, which isn't a concern. Not sure what it is in an alk supplement, but it may be the same thing.

In general, if you use quality ingredients, you can probably just ignore precipitates on the bottom (and not "try" to rinse them into the tank).
